        Terence Emmons, Professor Emeritus of History at Stanford University, is the author of The Formation of Political Parties and the First National Elections in Russia () and co-editor (with O. V. Budnitskii et al.) of the annotated bibliography of Russian émigré memoirs, Rossiia i rossiiskaia emigratsiia v vospominaniiakh i dnevnikakh. Opponents (Anti-Federalists) and supporters (Federalists) of the new constitution began to coalesce into political factions.
